Product details
Directory of fruit varieties in the systematic fruit nursery in the Royal Saxon Great Garden near Dresden from the year 1819. The Great Garden in Dresden is a park of Baroque origin. The largest park area in the city today was established in 1676 at the behest of Elector Johann Georg III and has been expanded several times throughout its history, resulting in an approximately rectangular layout covering an area of about 1.8 square kilometers. Its length is about 1900 meters, and its width reaches a maximum of 950 meters. At the center of the park stands the most significant building, the summer palace, which was constructed around 1680 based on a design by Johann Georg Starcke. In 1814, a fruit nursery was established in the park to identify the most suitable fruit varieties for Saxony, thereby promoting fruit cultivation in the region. Reprint of the original edition from 1819.
