Deeply buried lies the truth. The room is a wreck, the young woman brutally mutilated. She could not call for help, being mute. Next to the corpse, her murderer is found, covered in blood: Jerome Monk was feared by all not only for his hulking stature. He has long been suspected of having abducted three young women. When he confesses to all four murders, no one is surprised. However, Monk refuses to reveal where he has buried the bodies. Even the involvement of forensic anthropologist Dr. David Hunter yields no new insights. Eight years later, Monk escapes from prison. Panic grips the residents of the area.
