Verwahrlosung und Depression im Kindes- und Jugendalter

In child and adolescent psychiatry, symptoms of depression appear to be diagnosed more frequently. This psychopathology is negatively reinforced by symptoms of neglect. The aim of this study is to illustrate the historical development of the discourse on these two phenomena in Switzerland and Germany. A discourse analysis examines and discusses 20 articles on the topics of neglect and depression against the backdrop of medical, psychological, social science, and educational perspectives. The study finds that in Swiss professional articles, there is an above-average tendency to argue from a socialization theory perspective regarding both neglect and depression. In contrast, the professional journals from Germany tend to understand neglect more from an interactionist perspective.
