Our democracy needs us - now. Because it is not a given. In the face of multiple crises worldwide, more and more people are turning to populist movements and far-right parties that deliberately stoke fears and promise simple solutions to complex issues. However, we do not have to stand helplessly by as these developments unfold. We can counter the normalization of anti-democratic positions. We can emerge from apathy and take action. We must no longer leave the stage to the loudest voices. Because democracy only works with citizens who breathe life into it. Everyone is called upon to resolutely oppose undemocratic and inhumane tendencies. The time is now!
