Poetry in Finland is currently achieving an unprecedented sensuality and joy of experimentation. It explores abysses, sometimes with lightness, sometimes with self-deprecating despair, tries its hand at modernity, but never loses sight of the mysticism of Nordic nature. Reason enough for the Literaturwerkstatt Berlin to invite six poets from Finland to the poesiefestival 2013: Olli Sinivaara, Helena Sinervo, Aki Salmela, Jyrki Kiiskinen, Henriikka Tavis and Teemu Manninen. They were joined by six fellow German-speaking poets: Andre Rudolph, Kathrin Schmidt, Hendrik Jackson, Thomas Rosenlöcher, Kerstin Preiwuß and Norbert Lange. The authors participated in the rewriting of their works in a language foreign to them, supported by linguists as companions and on the basis of interlinear translations. In the dialogue and in the joint reading, the aim was to understand the different cultures.
