Product details
The first commentary on the Insurance Supervision Act (VAG) The insurance activities of private insurance companies are subject to federal supervision. A core element of insurance supervision is solvency control. It ensures that insurance companies have a sufficient financial basis to meet all current and future claims of policyholders arising from an insurance contract. The applicable Insurance Supervision Act (VAG) has been in force since January 1, 2006. However, until now, there has been no comprehensive commentary on the VAG. This gap is now filled by this work, which also extensively references the Supervision Ordinance (AVO), the Insurance Supervision Ordinance-FINMA (AVO-FINMA), and other regulations. The commentary is authored by professionals from the legal field, the insurance industry, and academia with significant practical experience. This guarantees a high utility value of the work. Beyond the treatment of the applicable law, it also refers to developments within ongoing legislative and regulatory processes in Switzerland as well as to international developments in insurance supervision and insurance supervisory law. Content: Building on the high and established standard of the Basel commentaries, this work explains the entire Insurance Supervision Act (VAG), the Supervision Ordinance (AVO), and the AVO-FINMA in a concise, comprehensive, and practical manner, providing the text of the law in all three official languages.
