Susanne Stöcklin-Meier grew up in Niederbipp near Solothurn and worked as a kindergarten teacher in Dietgen (Baselland), where she still lives today. Her first book, Verse, Sayings and Rhymes for Children (1974), made her suddenly famous. Many other books followed as well as children's programmes for radio and television. Since then, Susanne Stöcklin-Meier has been involved in further training for kindergarten teachers, parents and adult education. Play, language, movement and humour are central concerns of the author. She has collected numerous children's verses and rhymes, and her games, stories and songs can be performed with almost nothing or with her own body. Susanne Stöcklin-Meier's books have been published in many European countries and, with over one million copies sold, have long become standard works.
