Mikael Blomkvist is faced with a decision. Rumors suggest that he is no longer the journalist he once was. Lisbeth Salander, on the other hand, is as active as ever. Their paths cross when Frans Balder, one of the world's leading experts in artificial intelligence, is murdered. Just before his death, he had promised Mikael Blomkvist explosive information. When Blomkvist learns that Balder was also in contact with Lisbeth Salander, he begins his investigation. The trail leads to an American software company linked to the NSA. Mikael Blomkvist senses his chance to write the exposé he desperately needs. But as always, Lisbeth Salander is pursuing her own agenda.
