The conference proceedings contain contributions related to the topics of hate speech and insult. Hate and incitement online pose significant societal, legal, and policy challenges and have gained considerable importance in recent years, both in public debate and in academia. Due to the reach of social media, insults are now perceivable worldwide by the entire digital public, giving them a completely different dimension. Against this backdrop, the question arises to what extent the regulation of language, as a central instrument of social interaction online, can and should be justified. The anthology addresses fundamental questions ranging from hate speech and insult to (cyber)bullying, as well as an intercultural perspective with regard to Turkish law.
