The design of distance learning presents schools with didactic and organizational challenges. This volume brings together theoretical reflections and practical tips that demonstrate how learning can be successful when in-person instruction is no longer possible or is only limited. The editors draw on the insights for distance learning that they developed in spring 2020 on behalf of the NRW Ministry of School and Education, and apply the concept to hybrid learning, which combines in-person and distance learning. Practical reports from various types of schools provide concrete insights into classroom instruction, while didactic considerations show how to effectively design video conferences, maintain motivation in distance learning, or develop innovative examination formats. In short, this volume opens up various ways to organize teaching during the pandemic not just as an emergency measure, but in a contemporary and learning-friendly manner.
