The so-called evidence-based psychotherapy is accompanied by misdevelopments: cognitivism, symptom fixation, and technique fixation. The third wave in behavioral therapy is unable to integrate the diversity of findings and does not truly resolve these issues. These can only be corrected by referring back to cross-disciplinary empirical evidence and the practice of daily work with patients. Here, numerous research areas are critically integrated, and a disorder- and method-crossing psychotherapy is developed (etiology, case concept, treatment). Symptom-related, personality-related, and emotion-processing therapy strategies are purposefully combined. The focus is on self-esteem damaging experiences and a cascade model of emotional stress burdens. The developmental psychological orientation is also linked to an approach that bridges the treatment of adults and children.
