Vergleich und Leistung in der funktional differenzierten Gesellschaft

The modern society surpasses all its predecessors in terms of its pronounced performance and comparison orientation. However, it is necessary to examine whether this applies equally to all social areas and what differences and similarities can be observed. The contributions in this volume describe performance comparisons or the relationships between performance and comparison in various social subsystems, while also illuminating selected social structures such as states, organizations, or professions. In addition to the respective functions and consequences, the discussion also addresses breaks, conflicts, and limits of the performance-related comparison logic.
