Product details

Question: How can you bring down a dictator without shedding blood? Quite simply: You pull the ground out from under his feet. And how do you do that? It's all in this book. And who pulls the ground out from under the dictator in this book? An unassuming yet fearless and wise subject in the form of an old farmer, who suffers greatly under the dictator's rule. He is aided by both a clever idea and a wealth of knowledge about the laws of the land and the workings of the government palace. He knows, among other things, that the state is in financial distress. He manages to speak with the dictator and tells him that many men in the country work too little because they constantly strut around with their hands in their pockets. If they worked more, they would earn more, and those who earn more pay more taxes. The ruler wants to know what can be done about this issue. The farmer advises to ban all pockets by law. And since a good government always leads by example, this law should also apply to the president, his ministers, and all officials. The suspicious president wants to see if what the farmer tells him is true. And indeed: Everywhere he looks during a drive through the city, he sees many men behaving this way. This annoys him. The new law is to take effect tomorrow, and all pockets are to be sewn shut. "And what happens then?" he asks the farmer. And the farmer replies, "Then Mr. President will learn many truths.".
