Verbesserung der Oberflächengüte beim Bohren mit passiven Dämpfern

Reaming is nothing more than internal turning. Like external turning, reaming is also widely used in manufacturing. The problem with reaming persists as the axial distance of the internal dimensions increases. When machining large holes, the overhang length of the reamer also increases. As the overhang length of the reamer increases, so does the deflection of the reamer, leading to unwanted vibrations. These undesirable vibrations cause chatter marks on the machined surfaces and negatively affect surface quality. This book attempts to find a solution to the vibration problem during reaming by employing a passive vibration damping technique. By mounting this passive damper onto a commercially available standard reamer and using standard reaming practices, i.e., applying routine machining parameters, experiments were conducted on a reliable CNC lathe. The results obtained were satisfactory and suggest that a passive damper can be used to minimize the effects of vibrations, ultimately leading to an improvement in surface quality.
