Verbesserter Nutzen von Telematiksystemen im Schienenverkehr

The use of new innovative technologies in rail transport telematics systems creates a multitude of opportunities to enhance the benefits for users and operators of such systems. To make freight transport more efficient, faster, more economical, and above all safer, as well as to ensure safer passenger transport, aspects such as user-friendliness, operability, context awareness, mobility, and availability are fundamental drivers for the deployment of such technologies. For example, by replacing the Global System for Mobile Communications - Rail with Ubiquitous Computing technologies, an increase in user benefits can be achieved through improved access options and functionalities, as well as very rapid provision of user group-specific services. This research work discusses the aspects of a future rail transport telematics system from the perspective of the user groups of railway vehicle operators and experts in the development and use of innovative service delivery platforms, based on results developed through Grounded Theory. This research highlights the beneficial factors that should be considered for a future rail transport telematics system.
