Product details

The water injection technology (WIT) process has become increasingly established over the past ten years and is now increasingly used for the material-saving production of thick-walled and rod-shaped components. In addition to the mechanical requirements, WIT also places high demands on the material itself, particularly regarding crystallization behavior and melt viscosity. LANXESS Deutschland GmbH has developed materials based on polyamide 66 specifically for processing via WIT and for use as cooling water pipes in the automotive sector. These are glass fiber reinforced, easily flowing, and thermally stabilized molding compounds. This work identified and investigated several significant influences of the crystallization behavior and the used crystallization retarders on the application-related properties of the molding compounds, their processability in the WIT process, and the quality of the manufactured components.
