René Dürr's Venice shows the quiet magic of the lagoon city, captured in black and white images. Over the course of five years (2016-2021), he visited the city in the autumn and winter months to discover Venice in the style of a flâneur. During his explorations, he took photographs that reveal the structure of Venice away from the tourist crowds. There are no people visible in the pictures.

The constant building process over centuries that has shaped Venice into what we see today is illustrated in the photos in all its details. In the prologue, architects Marianne Burkhalter and Christian Sumi discuss how the morphology of the city has changed over time. Each photograph includes a QR code, allowing readers to access the exact location where the images were captured.
