Schulangst erkennen und begegnen

As part of a master's thesis at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Special Education, the authors investigate the occurrence of school anxiety in middle school. This involves a comparison between seven 6th-grade classes and six 3rd-grade classes, with a total of 261 students. A one-time quantitative survey is conducted to assess the presence of performance and social anxieties. Following a comprehensive literature review, two hypotheses are derived. One suggests that performance anxieties are present at both school levels, while the other posits that social anxieties increase with age. Finally, the data obtained is validated through an expert interview and compared with existing theories. Based on the results, specific intervention strategies for the 6th-grade classes are developed in the second part through another literature review.
