One evening, an actor asked me to write a play in which only Black people should appear. But what actually is a Black person? And above all: what color are they? A Black troupe performs a revenge ritual on stage. Two groups face each other, with the smaller part of them masked as Whites, watching the performance of the Black actors from an elevated position. In this confusing game, the oppressed mockers express their anger against the white authority with their biting, yapping mockery, wildly gesturing in grotesque images. They rebel by painting their crippled appearance in a horrifying way. They play and live their roles as Black people anew every evening; their performance gives them no rest and reflects humanity with all its weaknesses and strengths. The author engages with the poetics of theater.
