Planning processes in the city: synchronous discourse analysis

Planning processes in cities are often characterized by conflicts, but also by the mediation of different interests and the development of alternative design options. In this context, it is becoming increasingly important to understand debates and decision-making processes. This is where synchronous discourse analysis comes in: it is a tool to systematically capture conflicts and mediations regarding goals and concepts in urban planning and transformation processes. The book provides practitioners, as well as students and researchers, with the appropriate tools to analyze and understand transformation processes and to act effectively within them. A case study (the industrial complex Zeche Zollverein in Essen) illustrates the theory and practice.
