The diverse transformation processes brought about by globalization increasingly challenge traditional political, social, and cultural boundaries. The heightened mobility of people, capital, goods, images, and information, along with the dense networking of individuals and organizations across national borders enabled by telecommunications technologies, make globalization appear as an era of transgressions. However, this does not herald a boundaryless world society; rather, the changes to established boundaries are accompanied by new delineations and shifts in their significance. The publication focuses on the tension between transgressions and boundary shifts in a globalized world, which has recently become the center of interest for many disciplines, highlighting both the opportunities and risks involved.
