Product details
The Thume on the CMR has developed into a widely cited standard work in both jurisprudence and specialist literature over the three decades since its first edition, and it is frequently consulted in practice by both lawyers and courts. The commentary on the CMR, now in its 4th edition, is one of the few works that comprehensively and exclusively addresses the international legal convention on the contract of carriage in international road freight transport, which currently includes 61 member states from Europe, Asia, and North Africa. The highly successful CMR, which has been in effect for nearly 70 years, is of paramount importance for transport law. In the more than ten years since the previous edition was published, additional member states have ratified the convention or the 1978 protocol, and the convention has been supplemented by an additional protocol concerning electronic waybills. The case law of the courts in the member states regarding the application and interpretation of the CMR is diverse and constantly evolving, and legal discussions are also continuously progressing. This fourth edition brings the work up to date. Special attention is also given to reports from nine European countries that describe the particularities of jurisprudence in these nations.
