Product details

Johannes Brahms, 1833 - 1897, received his education in Hamburg and travelled through Europe as the piano accompanist of the Hungarian violin virtuoso E. Remény. Joseph Joachim became aware of him and recommended him to Liszt and Schumann. The latter celebrated Brahms in an article in the 'Neue Zeitschrift für Musik' on 28.10.1853 under the headline 'Neue Bahnen' (New Paths) as a long-awaited talent, as a 'called one'. From 1857 - 59 Brahms was court music director in Detmold, and in 1862 he moved to Vienna. There he lived as a highly respected freelance artist, and from 1877 he received several honours. His complete works include 4 symphonies, the 'German Requiem', 2 piano concertos, a violin concerto, piano and chamber music and much more.
