Product details

Since 10,000 animals are buried in pet cemeteries each year, J. Neijenhuis proposes a corresponding liturgy that allows clergy, as well as laypeople, to conduct pet funerals at the request of grieving pet owners. These pet funerals focus on the pastoral dimension. W. Jones addresses the enhancement of solemnity for masses, suggesting that melismatic chants should elevate the sense of occasion. J. Neijenhuis critically engages with Henning Theissens' representation of God's presence, which follows an aesthetic approach. I. Scheitler explores the linguistic and thought forms in the song "Ein Lämmlein geht und trägt die Schuld," which have shaped the later pietistically perceived expressions of piety. Chr. Henzel discusses Emil Neumann's ideas on a possible practice of liturgical psalm singing with congregational participation. A. Marti highlights quality issues in church hymns, building on the working paper published in this volume by the International Working Group for Hymnology (IAH) on the subject. A project outline for a study on the Porst hymnbook is the first contribution in a series that will present hymnological dissertations in brief form to promote scholarly exchange. Literature reports on liturgy and hymnology, as well as strophic and person registers, complete the yearbook.
