Product details
Since the early 1980s, the Berlin artist Uwe Thürnau has been creating dioramas for trade fairs and museums, as well as artificial environments for lions, monkeys, and penguins in zoos. His creations include landscape paintings of up to 200 meters in length for the Green Week and backdrop images for display cases at the Natural History Museum in Milan, but most notably, the lifelike rock scenarios of the Polarium at the Rostock Zoo (2018) and the big cat house at the Berlin Zoo (2021). This monograph presents Thürnau's oeuvre comprehensively and richly illustrated for the first time. His unique work combines artistic empathy, the ability to improvise, and technical finesse developed over many years.
