Product details

Analytical philosophy represents an important philosophical trend of the second half of the last century. In addition to a criticism of metaphysical conceptions, the different manifestations of Analytical Philosophy coincide in their focus on language. In his now classical study, Dummett examines the origins of this linguistic turn, which for him lie not so much in English empiricism but, alongside Frege, above all with Brentano and the early Husserl. Dummett is convinced that a philosophical explanation of thinking can only be achieved through a philosophical analysis of language - a conviction he shares not only with Wittgenstein but also with philosophers such as Quine and Davidson.
