Ursächliche Prozesse bei der Laserstrukturierung von Dielektrika

This dissertation systematically investigates the physically causal processes of refractive index modifications induced in dielectrics by ultrafast pulsed laser radiation. A detailed analysis is conducted for the electronic and thermal processes triggered by focused laser radiation within the volume of glasses. The structuring of the glasses is performed using temporally modulated laser radiation in the infrared spectral range. The two-dimensional refractive index distribution of the waveguide cross-sections is determined using interference microscopy. In this way, the simulation of beam propagation in the waveguide can be aligned with the actual refractive index distribution present.
