Urban Water Management

The book "Urban Water Management" offers a comprehensive analysis of the water quality provided in West Accra by the Weija facility. The research examines both the quality of the treated water at the source and the water quality in selected households. A total of 135 samples from 27 locations and 120 samples from household storage facilities were analyzed. The results indicate that the physicochemical and bacteriological properties of the water generally meet the standards of the WHO and EPA. However, a significant portion of the samples tested positive for coliform bacteria, indicating potential risks in the water supply. The book also highlights the challenges posed by frequent pipe breaks and negative water pressure conditions, which can lead to contamination of the distribution system. This detailed study is of great interest to professionals and students in the field of water management and environmental sciences.
