Performance measurement, assessment and examination formats in transitionExams, homework and quizzes: Traditional examination formats focus primarily on factual knowledge. They encourage short-term memorisation and leave too little room for self-assessment or qualitative feedback. As a result, important skills such as critical thinking and social skills take a back seat. Despite this, graded performance assessments are still the standard in our current examination culture. Why do we measure performance the way we do? How up-to-date is this in a culture of digitality? What could alternatives look like? These and other questions are addressed in the fifth volume of the Upgrade series.
