Untersuchung von physikalischen, phonetischen und psychoakustischen Aspekten der Erzeugung von Sings

The aesthetic effect of the singing voice has been discussed for centuries from various perspectives. For instance, sound qualities of singing voices have been described using adjectives (high, sweet, bright-sounding, etc.) and through comparisons with instruments and animal sounds, or addressed in vocal pedagogy writings in connection with results from analyses of voice psychology and production. Since the 20th century, the singing voice has been studied using an increasing variety of methods, particularly with acoustic recordings. Especially in the last thirty years, many individual questions have been clarified. However, the question of the sound quality of the singing voice has been scarcely considered in scientific studies. Among the few exceptions are the physical descriptions of aspects of sound quality based on recordings of sung vowels. Compared to the publications of the 20th century, this work presents the results of a study in which the singing voice is explored using an interdisciplinary approach that combines physics, phonetics, and psychoacoustics of voice production.
