Product details
Carbapenem resistance in A. baumannii has been identified over the years and has developed into a global threat in intensive care units and healthcare facilities. In Iraq, there is little attention given to the molecular basis of multidrug-resistant A. baumannii isolates in our hospitals. Therefore, the objectives of the study are: to investigate the distribution of multidrug-resistant (MDR) A. baumannii strains isolated from hospitalized patients, and to examine the presence of class D beta-lactamase genes (blaOXA-23-Like, blaOXA-24-Like, blaOXA-51-Like, and blaOXA-58-Like) in A. baumannii isolates as well as their distribution among all clinical isolates. Analyze the sequence of the blaOXA genes to identify variations in local isolates. Correlate efflux pump genes with multidrug and carbapenem resistance. Measure the gene expression of the most prevalent blaOXA genes.
