With a marine area of 96% compared to 4% land area, the Riau Islands Province (Kepri) is rich in maritime potential, which includes mangrove forests. Mangrove forests are primarily found at the boundaries between coastal estuaries and rivers. According to the Marine and Fisheries Office of the Riau Islands Provincial Government, the total area of mangrove forests in the border area currently stands at 67,417 hectares. Later, a series of mangrove forest areas began to be packaged as ecotourism, giving them economic value. Ecotourism is a tourism concept that fosters a culture of respect and preservation of the environment while providing an enjoyable experience, especially for visitors and tourists. Mangrove forests offer natural panoramas that are still fresh and unspoiled. Visitors can experience the beautiful atmosphere of the mangrove forest by climbing the 192.5 x 2 meter wooden bridge that surrounds the mangrove area. The bridge was constructed with funds from the village fund in 2018 amounting to 160 million Rp. Tourists can also use the bridge to take selfies with family or partners.
