Using the Taguchi method, a total of L16 experiments are required, which are simulated in the ANSYS FEM Solver (version 14.5). Appropriate FEM simulation techniques are applied for these simulation cases, and the modeling steps are also developed for this research study. After properly simulating these cases, two responses are selected to optimize this baseline design for further investigations. The two responses chosen in this study are the von Mises stress and the body weight. Various types of analyses are conducted for both cases in this study, such as signal-to-noise ratio analysis, variance analysis, model equation creation, and optimization of these model equations for the stress and body weight of the hip joint. A visual analysis is also included in this research study. All these main results are presented in this study. The identification of the factors in order of importance is also included. The signal-to-noise ratio analysis for stress shows that the best factor is the ball diameter, while the worst factor is the neck length of the hip joint.
