Die Erfindung des Ungehorsams

Heat, rain, biting stench. Iris prowls through her penthouse in Manhattan, impatiently waiting for the next dinner party to breathe some life back into her. Ling, employed at a sex doll factory in southeastern China, inspects artificial female bodies for manufacturing defects before retreating into her solitude with classic films in the evening. And in old, dark Europe, Ada follows her mathematical obsessions, dreaming of calculations and novel machines, always with the monstrous in mind.

Three women in three worlds: they are all searching for an answer - for the essence of things. And they are all, unknowingly, connected to each other.
