It is the year 1968, and the world of window dresser Stettler begins to crumble. For decades, he has lived and worked for the long-established Quatre Saisons when he is unexpectedly assigned a younger colleague – a rival, a designated successor, an enemy! Stettler is horrified. The young people wear blue jeans and no longer know what is appropriate. Suddenly, a Vietcong flag hangs on the Münster tower. He increasingly feels threatened, even spies on his rival, and plots revenge. Alone with a radio pianist he admires, Lotte Zerbst, he exchanges letters and feels less lost. He even hopes for a meeting.
