In six stories, the author unfolds the diverse life and misfortune narratives of people who take their own lives. These are approaches to the inner emotional worlds of the protagonists, which usually remain closed off and always enigmatic to us. The tales feature young and older men and women from various backgrounds, such as a retired forensic scientist who falls hopelessly in love with an unknown neighbor, and a young woman who eagerly awaits her boyfriend on her birthday. Another story revolves around the sadomasochistic passion between two women, while another explores the unrequited love of a successful construction entrepreneur for a prostitute. A particular focus is placed on the interplay between external triggers and the biographical origins of the individual characters, aiming to make such actions more relatable and countering traditional clichés and myths that have long surrounded the topic of suicidality.
