The planning fundamentals and practical examples of implemented measures presented in the book aim to illustrate how barriers can be avoided in advance or reduced and removed in existing buildings. The fourth edition has been thoroughly revised in accordance with current standards and legal requirements, focusing on the implementation of protective goals according to DIN 18040. The content has been expanded to include topics such as contrast planning, tactile guiding elements, alerting, and evacuation, and supplemented with recently realized projects (e.g., monuments, existing buildings) as well as additional implementation examples in the areas of exhibitions, kindergartens/schools, and sports facilities. The new section 'added value' highlights additional ways to make accessibility not only practical but also beautiful and comfortable for users.
