Überwachung & Modellierung der Regenwasserqualität für ein Einzugsgebiet in Malaysia

It has been shown that urbanization affects the quantity and quality of stormwater runoff. A watershed with mixed land use, i.e., with residential and industrial areas, was studied, and the water quality of the watershed was sampled and tested. The results were analyzed to compare them with the thresholds for pond water quality, typical stormwater characteristics, the effects of precipitation on water quality during dry weather events, the first-flush phenomenon, and the comparison of water quality during wet and dry weather events based on soil characteristics and land use as relative sources. The duration of a storm is a key parameter for characterizing the depth and intensity of precipitation, which affects the resulting runoff peak and water quality. A typical rainfall duration is calculated to simulate the stormwater runoff using the EPA Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) for the sub-watersheds within the watershed. The parameters used to develop the model for the study watershed are discussed. The type of pollution from the predicted rainfall in the model watershed is assessed.
