Übersetzbarkeit polnischer Phraseologismen mit Eigennamen ins Deutsche

The present work deals, as the title suggests, with the translatability of Polish phraseologisms containing proper names into German. It aims to clarify the extent to which this is possible. Anyone who engages with the Polish language knows that phraseologisms are a significant stylistic component. They represent what is special about Polish. The focus will be on biblical and mythological proper names, as well as names that refer to Polish realities, which require the user to have a certain basic knowledge about Poland. Phraseologisms like 'Bellerophon's letter' or 'go to Abraham for a beer' are likely easier to translate than 'co pamięta czasy króla wieczka' or 'write to me in Berdyczów.' With a small selection of phraseologisms, the work also aims to provide an overview of the actual application of these phraseologisms in practical life.
