Über das Sterben

Death is a part of life. Gian Domenico Borasio is the chair of palliative medicine at the University of Lausanne and a lecturer in palliative medicine at the Technical University of Munich. He is considered one of the leading palliative care physicians in Europe. It is largely thanks to him that today every medical student in Germany must engage with the care of the dying and their families during their training. For many years, Gian Domenico Borasio has advocated for end-of-life care that alleviates the suffering of those with life-threatening illnesses and aims to improve their quality of life as well as that of their loved ones, rather than artificially prolonging the dying process. In his book, he describes what we know today about dying and the means and possibilities we have to reduce our fear of death and prepare for the end of life.
