"Turkish Cultural Policies in a Global World" offers a multidisciplinary analysis of the development of Turkish cultural policy in the context of globalization. The book examines the circulation of knowledge and practices and proposes an innovative approach to the transfer of cultural policies, viewing them as co-production and synchronicity. The analysis is conducted at international, national, and local levels, relying on original empirical data and case studies. The structure of the book is divided into three parts: first, it considers the legacy of Kemalism, followed by the cultural policies developed under the leadership of the AKP, and finally, it investigates the production of cultural policies in the peripheral regions of Turkey. The authors highlight the central role of culture in understanding the societal upheavals in modern Turkey and argue that cultural exchange processes should be viewed as circulations rather than one-sided impositions. This contributes to a reevaluation of the concept of 'Western influence' and demonstrates how territories are redefined through culture.
