Tübinger Vorlesungen Band 4. Die griechische Tragödie

This fourth and final volume of Wolfgang Schadewaldt's Tübingen Lectures contains the lectures on Greek tragedy: "Forms and Problem History of Attic Tragedy," a two-semester course with a general introduction and the interpretation of Aeschylus from 1966 and 1966/67; "Sophocles," also a two-semester course, from 1969 and 1969/70; and "Euripides" from 1967. The volume provides an overview of the great classical tragedy in its three main representatives, its position in the history of Greek poetry, its relation to the historical environment of the 5th century, and - in individual perspectives - its lasting influence on later poetry and drama up to our time.
