History, memory, and empathy, as well as the forces of nature and traces of humanity, are the themes in the work of Tacita Dean. In her films, photographs, and acoustic works, the artist explores expectation as a fundamental state of being for humans. Concrete observations are woven together by this conceptually working artist into her own imaginative worlds, while simultaneously formulating timeless symbols. The artist's book, created in close collaboration with Tacita Dean, intertwines her works with texts by the artist herself. A focus is placed on Dean's latest works, Antigone and the monumental chalk drawing, Chalk Fall.
