Product details
From the authors' foreword: For over 30 years, we have been engaged with the topic of "inner healing." However, until last year, we had not found a book on the Christian book market that addresses the issue of shame and its consequences from a pastoral perspective. There is good scholarly literature on this topic, but it often seems too technical and rather difficult to read. These authors do not recognize the healing possibilities of God. In contrast, the subjects of shame (or disgrace) and the restoration of dignity are frequently discussed in the Bible. Many people struggle with shame, feelings of inferiority, and the sense of never being enough, as well as with the exhausting attempts to compensate for and hide their inner worthlessness through external successes. Time and again, we hear from counseling practice that those seeking help entrust their lives to Jesus because they experience how He touches them, removes their deep life shame, and restores their dignity. In this book, we take the reader on a journey to restore their dignity. First, we describe the fundamental dynamics of shame to make it clear: deep feelings of shame do not have to be a lifelong torment. Everyone can take steps toward healing and experience God's help in dealing with painful memories. Several individuals share their experiences of liberation from their life shame and failure mentality. Their contributions encourage readers to try the steps toward regaining dignity for themselves and to seek liberating pastoral care.
