Illegal group therapies involving drugs are being conducted. These therapies utilize hallucinogens, which have been shown to have psychotherapeutic efficacy in several scientific studies. Hallucinogens allow for deeper self-awareness and often lead to insights that can be healing and serve as guidelines for further life. However, especially since the deaths in Berlin, such procedures should be bound by strict standards. In 2009, two patients died there from an overdose because the therapeutic group leader miscalculated the dosage of the substances under the influence of LSD. As a journalist, the author participated in a long-term group therapy to explore this underground scene. While he experienced the impressive effects of hallucinogens like LSD, ecstasy, or mescaline, other aspects shocked him.
