Treatment options for the management of Os sacrum insufficiency fractures

This book first gives a brief overview of the name derivation and anatomy for the os sacrum. The increasing incidence of sacral insufficiency fractures due to increasing life expectancy and the change in the demographic structure of the population is pointed out, and additional risk factors are explained. The clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are clearly described. It is the first work regarding outcome and side effects of conservative, interventional and surgical therapy of sacral insufficiency fractures in direct comparison. Finally, a decision aid for the differentiated therapeutic approach in different degrees of severity of sacral insufficiency fractures is presented.
