A now-famous cult book. Hans Peter Duerr has set standards with this book for a way of thinking that stands in contrast to Western tradition. A book that made history in West German science. However, Duerr's irrationalism also leads us into a dead end. Could we not learn from Duerr how to conduct a discussion in a witty, educated, and humane manner, that is: like adults? The reader who has a sense for the playful mischievousness of self-irony will find themselves amused time and again. Duerr is unpretentious, far removed from all sectarianism, not at all dogmatic, and seeks to save no one. A book that is very flirtatious, sometimes vain, undoubtedly arrogant, and therefore very entertaining. An essay written in good German, engagingly crafted, not without humor and various deeper meanings. Provocative cheekiness. A messy, disorganized, carelessly written work, peppered with brilliant aphorisms and often very funny in a cheeky subcultural language, an enormously vain yet, due to its openness, very reconciling book. Academically sound, aphoristic, bibliophilic, transcending boundaries, beyond jargon.
