It has been four years since Ira underwent therapy to leave the demons of her youth behind. In the meantime, she lives with her father and works as a reporter for a newspaper. Kerttu, the head of the Helsinki homicide department, is nearing retirement when she is handed the diary of a murderer. It comes from a crime scene where a man was bludgeoned to death with an axe. She must hurry, as the killer is already planning his next murder. In the following weeks, people on the fringes of society continue to die: the homeless, drug addicts. No one suspects a thing. Except for Kerttu and Ira. But does Ira perhaps know more than she is willing to admit?.
