Trauer und Sexualität

Although experiencing sexual needs during times of mourning is not unusual, it is often taboo. As a result, mourners feel shame and guilt and question their feelings and actions. A shift in perspective is needed for grieving individuals to be accepted, including their sexual needs. The authors explore the individual significance of sexuality and physicality in the context of loss and grief. This is based on two interview studies with farewell and grief counselors as well as grieving individuals. The authors focus on how the loss of intimacy is felt after the death of a partner and how mourners live their sexuality. In doing so, they create opportunities for identification for other mourners and provide valuable insights for relatives and professionals in grief work.
