The major tasks of the present - climate crisis, digital transformation, social justice - are systematically intertwined and promote profound change. Related ecological, economic and social challenges make a comprehensive societal transformation towards sustainability necessary. But what needs to change? How should this transformation be shaped? And by whom? The scale of the socio-ecological transformation makes it clear how necessary networked thinking is and what potential inter- and transdisciplinary cooperation holds. The eleventh volume of the series "University - Society - Industry" brings together the perspectives of practitioners and scientists from different disciplines. Together, they take a critical look at key transformation sites and develop prudent strategies for a sustainable way of living, working and doing business. In addition, they turn their attention to one actor of the socio-ecological transformation in particular: the city as an experimental space for sustainability.
